Celebrando los 20 años de gloria de Louboutin

Celebrating 20 years of Louboutin's glory

Christian Louboutin is one of the most appreciated designers at the international level, on the most important Fashion Weeks as well as the shopping routes in the big cities. The french shoe designer became in a few years one of the most important trendsetters. Also, he coloured many of the most desired stilettos in red. Because all of this, the Design Museum of London celebrates with an exhibition his twenty years in the fashion world which will be the first one about the designer.

This Summer, the most retro on swimwear

The other day I passed by Women' Secret (Spanish brand from Cortefiel Group) and I saw amazing swimming costumes. Retro, ethnic and geometric prints -as well as the classic plain- cover the swimwear this Summer. Last periods are in fashion not only on prints but in shapes, and swimming costume is the garment star this year.

Oysho is also in this retro trend and proposes different styles in swimsuits, betting on total color and plain prints like black and white. Also, ethnic and geometric prints are on scarves, beach wraps, dresses and trousers, like the pyjamas style which will be very in fashion this Summer.

Imagined conversation between Prada and 'Schiap'

Next May 10th 'Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible conversations' opens in Metropolitan Museum of New York. The exhibition shows affinities and differences of these two designers and their contribution to the fashion world, every one on her historic and social context.

"That italian artist that designs clothes". In this way Coco Chanel described Elsa Schiaparelli, her eternal rival. Although more unknown than other designers, 'Schiap', as many people called her, was one of the most important in the interwar period. She lived in NY and Paris, where she was submerged in the artistic movements of the moment and made friends from Dadaism and Surrealism. It's very famous her lobster dress which she designed with Salvador Dalí.

Would Elsa Schiaparelli have chosen Miuccia Prada as a guest? Possibly. They have many things in common. Provocatives, both italians, intellectuals, Art lovers, trends creators and designers, women. Although they are not contemporary, MET's curator Andrew Bolton let us to approach to Miuccia Prada figure thanks to the interviews made to the designer.

Both designers were very close to Art and Painting world. Schiaparelli knew how to transmit Surrealism to many of her designs and collections, at that time. And afterwards, Prada did -and still does- the same every season, throwing artistic movements into her prints, following the spring or autumnal trends of the moment.
